The 5th Annual Donnellson Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk will take place beginning at the Donnellson Fire Department in Donnellson. Media check-in and availability begin at 7:00 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m. featuring guest speaker Holly Benda. The race will start immediately following the ceremony and will include an Iowa State Patrol Honor Guard presentation, an emergency personnel parade, and a remembrance of eight military personnel lost in the past year.

Wayland Fourth of July Celebration brings a full day of community activities honoring our heroes. The Wayland Lions Club Breakfast is from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Community Center for a free-will donation. Parade lineup will take place from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., with the parade stepping off at 10:30 a.m. on Main Street, rain or shine. National Anthem performance by Kari Hildebrand Brown. A free-will donation lunch hosted by the WACO basketball teams will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at WACO High School. Dine-in and carry-out options will be available. Additional activities include a Horseshoe Tournament at noon in the gravel lot by 4-M Plumbing & Heating and a Variety Show from noon to 1 p.m. at WACO High School featuring local performers, comedy, dance groups, and Elvis tribute entertainment. Food vendors and mobile trucks will be available throughout the day on Main Street. The celebration concludes with fireworks at dusk at the WACO Football Field, presented by the Wayland Volunteer Firefighters and sponsored by the City of Wayland and the Wayland Lions Club. Celebrate Independence Day in New London with the annual Fourth of July Parade beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will feature tractors, classic cars, and festive floats celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and the 80th birthday of VFW Post 7641 and its Auxiliary. Following the parade, everyone is invited to the park for hot dogs, available for a free-will donation. The event is sponsored by the New London VFW Post 7641 Auxiliary.

Celebrate America’s birthday with an evening of family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and a fireworks display at McMillan Park.

Celebrate Independence Day at the Mount Pleasant Golf & Country Club. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with bingo, food trucks, a DJ and fun activities for kids through dusk. The Bags Tournament starts at 7 p.m., with participants encouraged to arrive early. The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks display at dusk. Bring the family and enjoy an evening of patriotic fun.
