Holy Trinity 74, New London 47
Mary Kate Bendlage scored a game-high 20 points as Holy Trinity rolled to a 74-47 win over New London in yesterday’s Class 1A regional first round tilt.
The win was Tony Johnson’s 100th of his career.
Bendlage finished 8-of-16 from the field and sunk five free throws in the easy win.
Natalie Randolph added 17, while Teagan Snaadt ended with 10.
Ashlyn McSorley led New London with 12 points while Natalie Burden had seven.
Holy Trinity improved to 11-11 while New London closes their season 1-22.
The Crusaders move on to next Tuesday’s quarterfinals.
Winfield-Mount Union 66, Hillcrest Academy 34
Keetyn Townsley was one of four Lady Wolves in double figures with 19 points as Winfield-Mount Union easily got past Hillcrest Academy 66-34 in yesterday’s 1A regional first round.
Keely Malone ended the night with 15 points, while Melina Oepping had 14.
Bradie Buffington chipped in with 10.
The win moved Winfield-Mount Union to 18-4.
They’ll play Holy Trinity next Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
WACO 40, Wapello 36
WACO held off a late Wapello rally to move to the quarterfinals in a heart-stopping 40-36 win over the Arrows.
The win moves WACO to the quarterfinals where they’ll face No. 7 (1A) Notre Dame on Tuesday.
Ellah Kissell had a game-high 21 points, while Katie Leichty had 10.
Grace Coble chipped in with nine.
They were the only Warriors to score.
WACO is now 10-12.
Wapello closes their year 10-11.
