Hot and Humid Heat Index to Reach into Triple Digits Today

It’s going to be a hot and humid day, according to the National Weather Service. High temperatures in the low to mid 90s are expected, with the heat index reaching around 100 degrees in the afternoon.

Limit your time outdoors and wear loose, light colored clothing. Make sure to lather up in sunscreen to avoid burns, and drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. Check on children, elderly, and pets, throughout the day, and never leave a child or pet unattended in a vehicle. As the saying goes, look before you lock.

If someone is suffering from the heat, remove them from the environment. Consider placing them under a large tree with shade or bringing them to a vehicle with air conditioning. Public places like the mall or library are a great way to cool down on hot days.

This heat advisory will remain in effect through Tuesday evening.
