Iowa Wesleyan Receives $250,000 Gift for Facilities Upgrade

Mount Pleasant, IA – November 23, 2021 — In recognition and appreciation of Iowa Wesleyan’s longstanding and ongoing relationship with National Management Resources, the firm has committed a generous gift of $250,000 to support campus improvements and student retention initiatives. Since 2001 Iowa Wesleyan has partnered with National Management Resources for its facilities, maintenance, landscaping, and housekeeping services.

“We are extremely grateful for our partnership with National Management Resources and their commitment to supporting our University mission and initiatives,” said Iowa Wesleyan President Chris Plunkett. “Our campus is beautiful, safe, clean, and welcoming because of this partnership, and it is a source of great pride not only for those of us within the community but also for the residents of Mount Pleasant.”

The National Management Resources team has made a significant impact on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan over the last twenty years. They have received the Community Pride Award from the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce twice for their contributions to campus beautification and improvements. In 2019, National also received an Appreciation Award from the University for providing extraordinary services for the benefit of their students, employees, and the community.

“National is proud of our 20-year partnership with Iowa Wesleyan University and the opportunity to support their initiatives to enhance the campus and the student experience,” added Andrew Wilson, President, National Management Resources.

The gift will support facility enhancements on campus as a result of the University’s enrollment growth and the switch back to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The University will relocate its weight room from the basement of McKibbon Residence Hall to the first floor of the Howe Student Activity Center.  This renovation will create a more central location for this important space for all students to access. In addition, this relocation will connect the weight room to the University’s athletic training facility, wellness center, and the hub of Tiger Athletics.

“The core of our mission at Iowa Wesleyan is to provide an exceptional student experience that allows our students to maximize their potential,” said Vice President for Advancement and Athletics, Derek Zander. “Our athletic program has experienced unprecedented growth over the past several years, and this renovation will directly support nearly 450 student-athletes competing in 18 intercollegiate athletic programs.”

This renovation will also relocate the conference center on the first floor of the Howe Student Activities Center. In keeping with donor intent, new locations on campus will be identified for these spaces, and they will continue to bear the names of the loyal donors and friends who made them possible.
