Mount Pleasant Celebrates Quality Equipment as 2025 Small Businesses of The Year at Small Business Breakfast

MOUNT PLEASANT — The Mount Pleasant business community came together Friday morning to celebrate the heart and soul of the local economy at the 2025 Small Business Appreciation Breakfast. The event capped off a week dedicated to honoring the hard work, dedication, and impact of small businesses throughout the region.

“Small businesses are our friends, our neighbors, and our community,” the event’s host said in welcoming remarks. “Today we pause to say thank you for the hard work, long hours, and friendly smiles that make our town thrive.”

The breakfast, held at the union block, recognized not only the businesses themselves, but also the sponsors, volunteers, and ambassadors who helped make Small Business Week possible. Pilot Grove Savings Bank served as the Platinum Sponsor for the week, with Eric Rawson offering words of appreciation and encouragement. Additional sponsors included KILJ AM-FM Radio, Community 1st Credit Union, Two Rivers Bank & Trust, and Moutrie Trucking.

A highlight of the morning was a keynote address by Chris Lee, Executive Director of Des Moines County Conservation. Known for his expertise in organizational culture, Lee shared insights on cultivating healthy workplace ecosystems, drawing from both his professional experience and his passion for nature.

Throughout the week, five outstanding businesses were recognized as finalists for the Small Business of the Year award. Each was introduced and celebrated for their unique contributions:

  • American Hair Academy for its commitment to excellence in cosmetology education, shaping future industry leaders.
  • Capstone Pharmacy for its personalized, customer-centered healthcare, marking its 10th anniversary during the celebration.
  • Crossfit Teo for its dedication to improving both physical and mental health in the community.
  • Family Medicine of Mount Pleasant for building trusted relationships and delivering compassionate, personalized healthcare.
  • Quality Equipment Inc. for its commitment to family values, reliable service, and community involvement.

Judging for the award involved a panel of local leaders who evaluated each finalist’s story, customer service approach, adaptability, and community engagement. After a video presentation highlighting their journeys, Quality Equipment Inc. was named the 2025 Small Business of the Year.

Owner of Quality Equipment Inc. Matt accepted the award, thanking the community for its continued support and emphasizing the company’s commitment to serving Mount Pleasant and Henry County.

The celebration concluded with a message of gratitude to everyone who participated in Small Business Week. “With each celebration, I was reminded we truly have the best businesses here in our community,” the host reflected. “You all deserve this recognition.”

As attendees wrapped up the morning, it was clear that community small businesses play a major role in shaping Mount Pleasant’s community, identity, and future.
