MP Traffic Accidents in Mt. Pleasant Updated:

On Wednesday, 12-27-2023 at 1906hrs, the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to the intersection of South Grand Avenue and East Washington Street for a report of a two-vehicle accident. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 1987 Chevrolet v10 pickup operated by Michael Halterman of Mt. Pleasant, was stopped at the intersection on South Grand Avenue facing north. The Chevrolet v10 continued through the intersection traveling northbound and was struck by a 2013 Honda Accord operated by Neill Snyder of Kentucky, who was traveling westbound on East Washington Street. It was determined that the Honda Accord failed to obey the stop sign on East Washington Street and continued through the intersection without stopping resulting in the broadside collision. The Honda Accord sustained damage to the front end and is considered to be a total loss. The Chevrolet v10 sustained damage to the front passenger side door and is estimated to be in excess of $500.00. No injuries were reported to Law Enforcement. Neill was cited for failure to obey stop sign and yield right of way. The Mount Pleasant Police Department was assisted by Breuer Towing & Recovery.

 

On Wednesday,12-27-2023 at 1743hrs, the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to the 500 block of East Monroe Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville being operated by Ryan Walton of Mt. Pleasant, was traveling eastbound on East Monroe Street. Ryan failed to see a Toyota Tacoma which was legally parked facing East along the roadway in the 500 block of East Monroe Street. Ryan’s vehicle struck the Toyota Tacoma in a rear end collision. As a result of the initial collision, The Toyota Tacoma was forced forward and struck a Toyota Corolla which was legally parked in front of the Tacoma. The weather conditions were determined to have restricted Ryan’s ability to see the parked vehicles. The Pontiac Bonneville was considered to be a total loss and the combined damage to the other vehicles involved is estimated to be in excess of $2,100.00. Ryan sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Henry County Health Center via EMS. The Mount Pleasant Police Department was assisted by the Henry County Ambulance crew and Breuer’s Towing & Recovery.
