Betty Joan “Betty Jo” Woodley, 78, of Fort Madison, Iowa, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on October 16, 1943, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Geraldine (Long) Lowman. On March 11, 1967, she married David G. Woodley at St. Pauls Church in Donnellson, Iowa.

Friends may call and meet with the family from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 12, 2022  at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Dean Graber and Chaplin Deb Marlin officiating.

Burial will be in the Evangelical Cemetery in Donnellson.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her memory to the Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice.

Vivian L. Roberts, 99 of Bloomfield, formerly of Milton died at 7:35AM Thursday January 6, 2022 at Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield.  Her body has been interned at Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.  Online condolences may be left at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com

Vivian was born on July 11, 1922 in Milton, Iowa to Milton Jay and Marie Scotten Campbell.  She spent her childhood in Mount Sterling and Milton graduating from Milton High School in 1940.  After high school Vivian attended beauty school, married Dale “Pete” Roberts on July 5, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nevada and worked for several years as a hairdresser when Pete was stationed in California during WWII.  The couple moved back to Milton in 1947 and started a family.  Vivian stayed home and took care of their two sons, Allen and Ted and assisted with bookkeeping for their bulk oil delivery business.  She was a lifelong member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Milton.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Allen (Connie) Roberts of Omaha, Nebraska and Ted (Deb) Roberts of Milton, a grandson, Jeffery (Lindsay) Roberts of Omaha, a great-grandson Decker Roberts of Omaha, several nieces, other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents and Husband, Pete Roberts she was preceded in death by, 2 brothers, Bill and Jack Campbell and three sisters Pat Ash, Donna Miller and Betty Taylor.

Beulah E. Welcher 91, of Mt. Pleasant formerly of Lockridge passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.

Karla Kay Schafer 58, of Brighton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 31, 2021, after a 2 year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A celebration of Karla’s life will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2021, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Brighton Community Church, in Brighton, Iowa.  A memorial has been established in her memory.  According to her wishes cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.

Marjorie Ann Burden, 89, died Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Park Place Elder Living in Mount Pleasant.

Marjorie was born October 6, 1932 in Keswick, Iowa, the daughter of Tunis and Edith (Jordan) DeBont. She graduated from North English High School in 1950. Marjorie was united in marriage to Kenneth Burden in 1951, the couple had four children together and later divorced. She worked as a telephone operator, admissions clerk at Henry County Health Center and 31 years as the Henry County Treasurer, where she retired in 2002. While working as the treasurer, Marjorie helped with the design of the new license plates in 1996. Additionally, she fought to administer driver’s licenses in the treasurer’s office and learned to drive an 18-wheeler.  She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a member of many committees. Marjorie was a member of T.T.T., BPW, Barettes, Sans Souci, ISCTA, ISAC Legislative Committee. She was also a passionate member of the Henry County Republican Women and the Henry County Republican Party.

Marjorie is survived by her son Alan (Pamala) Burden of New London; two daughters Linda (Jon) LeWitter of Phoenix, AZ, Christine (Erick) Michel of Wilmette, IL; son-in-law Matt Yotter of Phoenix, AZ; nine grandchildren Adam, Vicki, Meggan, Teri, Angie, Amanda, Alex, Sadie, and Jack; eight greatgrandchildren Weston, Eva, Addison, Beckett, Kaley, Dallan, AJ, and Liam; two sisters, Verna Ridenour and Lois Axmear both of Keswick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Nancy Yotter, two brothers, Kenneth and Milton DeBont.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, Pastor Steve English will officiate. Burial will follow in the Forest Home Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed at Powell Funeral Homes Facebook page and at our website www.powellfuneralhomes.com. Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church from 3:00-7:00 pm, Friday, January 14, 2022, where the family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established for First Baptist Church.
