Anna Jean Kraemer, 79, a resident of Fairfield, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday prior to the Mass. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church. Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Anna was born July 23, 1945 in Jefferson, Iowa, the daughter of John R. and Helen M. (Vandevanter) Flanery. She married Paul Kraemer, August 7, 1965 in Guthrie Center, Iowa.

Anna worked with her husband, Paul, for 40 years in their business, Electronic Specialties in Fairfield. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and bird watching with a cup of coffee. Anna loved visiting with her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Paul; daughters, Renae (Brad) Benson of Cumming, Iowa and Christine (John) Einwalter of Manchester, Missouri; son, David (Staci) Kraemer of Fairfield; grandchildren, Shane, Morgan, Ethan, Julia, Madison, Abagale, Lauren, Katlin, and Makenzie. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Richard, Robert, and Dean.

Donald Davison, 94, of rural Wayland, died Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Parkview Home in Wayland. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Wayland Mennonite Church. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim website, Facebook and YouTube Pages.  Burial with full military honors by the Washington American Legion Post #29, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, from 4 – 6 PM at the Wayland Mennonite Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Wayland Mennonite Church, Wayland Fire Department and 1^st Responders, and the Washington County Fair Board for show ring improvements. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Donald Eugene Davison was born August 15, 1930, in Washington County, Iowa, the son of Charlie S. and Rhua Lucille (Mann) Davison. He attended rural school and graduated from Wayland High School in 1948. He joined the United States Army in 1951 and served until 1953. On February 15, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dorothy H. Schnicker at the Wayland Mennonite Church. Donnie was a farmer, raising crops and livestock on his farm near Wayland. He was a member of the Wayland Mennonite Church, and the Wayland American Legion, and served as a 4-H leader and on the Washington County Fair Board. Donnie loved to be in the timber and enjoyed visiting with folks and telling stories.

Survivors include his sisters: Janice (Jerry) Flory and Joyce (Rodney), Letts, both of Washington, and eight nieces and nephews.

Preceding Donnie in death were his parents, his wife Dorothy in 2017, his sister Jean (Donnie) Hertig and half-sister Mildred (Charles) Thompson.

Angela Jane Sheehan, 52, a resident of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024 at her home.

Visitation for family and friends will be 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the family for her sons.

Angie was born October 30, 1972 in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of Ronnie and Jean (Boyle) Gibson. She married Andrew Sheehan. They later divorced.

Angie worked in medical records. She enjoyed making dream catchers, crafting, and steampunk. Angie loved spending time with her boys.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Sebastian Sheehan, Tristyn Sheehan, and Colton Jennings; mother, Jean (Carl “Gene”) Burkhart of Harlingen, Texas; father, Ronnie (Susan) Gibson of Scottsboro, Alabama; brothers, Samuel Gibson and James Gibson; and best friend, Phaedra Cohenour of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, and her grandparents.

Cecelia J. Richards, 91, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Cecelia was born May 6, 1933, in Niota, Illinois, the daughter of John and Florence (Boeddeker) Hogan. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Fort Madison, and continued her education at Quincy College. Cecelia worked as an elementary school teacher. On August 16, 1958, Cecelia was united in marriage to Dick Richards at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Madison. The couple made their home in the Danville community for many years. Cecelia was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, and Altar and Rosary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and traveling.

Cecelia is survived by daughter Barbara (Randy) Brown of Mount Union; two sons David (Cathy Sanders) Richards of Montrose, Mark Richards of Danville; eight grandchildren, Mitch (Julie) Brown, Sarah Edwards, Kevin (Kelsey) Brown, David Richards, Mary Richards, Curtis (Mary) Richards, Trent (Melissa Flowers) Richards, Miranda Richards; eight great grandchildren; and sister Mary Scheetz of Nauvoo, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, daughter in law Michelle Richards, siblings Alberta Wetherill, Irene Parrott, Margaret Haas, Cleta Beimer, Martha Galbraith, George, John D. and Bernard Hogan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2024, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Rev. Ross Epping will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Burlington. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Philip H. Speidel

Philip H. Speidel, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, November 1, 2024 at his son’s residence in Oregon, Wisconsin.

Philip Hayward Speidel was born at home near Wayland, IA, on May 14, 1938. He was the son of Harold Frederick and Josephine Alice (Phillips) Speidel. He attended grade school at the Sloughville Public School in rural Jefferson County, and graduated from the Brighton Independent School District in 1956. Phil matriculated to Iowa Wesleyan College and was conferred with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Science in 1960. On August 14, 1960 at the Unity Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, IA, Phil was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Miller.

Phil began his career in education as a 6^th grade teacher for the Marion (IA) School District. During that time, he began the studies for his Master’s Degree at the University of Iowa, and received that degree in 1965. From 1968-1974, Phil was the principal of Cody Elementary of the Pleasant Valley School District in LeClaire, IA. From 1974 to 1985, Phil was the Principal of the Harlan, Saunders and Van Allen Elementary Schools in Mt. Pleasant. Phil made a career change and accepted a position with L.J. Roth. He continued his career in farming as well during that time. When he retired from LJ Roth at age 65, he continued to farm for several years.

Phil was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church where he had served as an Elder and Past President of the Congregation. He was a member of the Lions Club. For the past 25 plus years, Sandy and he owned and operated Ten K Kennels, where they raised Siberian Huskies. For many years, Phil attended and assisted at the John Bear Grease Dog Sled Race near Duluth, MN (a Iditarod qualifying race).

Those thankful for sharing in Phil’s life include his wife of 64 years, Sandy of Mt. Pleasant; 4 children – Denise Balchunas of Mt. Pleasant, Dennis (Stacy) Speidel of Mt. Pleasant, Darren (Lynn) Speidel of Oregon, Wi and Danielle Speidel of Madison, WI; a sister – Shirley Schooley of Brighton, IA; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

The funeral service for Phil will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 9 at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 910 E. Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant. The Revs. Michael R. Scudder and Chris Hinkle will officiate. Burial will be in the Richwoods Cemetery, rural Mount Pleasant. Friends may call from 2-8 PM on Friday, Nov. 8 at the church. The family will be present from 5-7 PM.
