High School Baseball
Winfield-Mt. Union split their doubleheader against Lone Tree last night, falling 3-2 in game one and winning 7-5 in game two. Riley Kaalberg tabbed the only RBI in game one. Cole Milks swatted two doubles and tallied three RBIs in game two as Trevor Phillips picked up the win on the mound, striking out 11 batters in 5.2 innings of work. The Wolves will compete against Wapello on Monday, June 17th, on the road.
Central Lee stomped West Burlington last night 7-1. Brock Thuleen knocked home the only run for the Falcons, while Bo Herdrich finished with two RBIs at the plate and the win on the mound for the Hawks.
West Burlington will take on Highland on Monday at 5:30 pm at home.
Central Lee will face off against Burlington Notre Dame on Tuesday, June 18th, on the road at 5:30 pm.
Burlington Notre Dame defeated Van Buren County last night 8-3. Aiden McEntee went 2 for 3 with two RBIs in the loss. The Warriors will square off against Wapello on Wednesday, June 19th, on the road at 5:30 pm.
New London will take on Pekin on Monday at home at 5:30 pm.
Mt. Pleasant will travel to Fairfield on Monday for a doubleheader with game one at 5:30 pm.
Fairfield struggled in their doubleheader against Central DeWitt last night, losing game one 8-3 and falling in game two 15-3. Caden Allison finished with two RBIs in game one and Tallon Bates tabbed two RBIs between the two contests.
Danville will face off against West Burlington on Tuesday at 5:30 pm on the road.
Mediapolis will take on Highland on Wednesday at 5:30 pm on the road.
High School Softball
WACO fell to Highland in both games of their doubleheader last night, 19-0 in game one and 14-0 in game two. The Warriors will take on Columbus on Tuesday, June 18th, at 5:30 pm at home.
Danville defeated Holy Trinity Catholic last night 12-7. The Bears will compete against West Burlington on Tuesday at 7 pm.
Holy Trinity Catholic will participate in the Hillcrest Tournament today with a matchup against English Valleys.
Central Lee slammed the door on West Burlington’s 7th inning comeback attempt to win 9-8. Logan Kelley smacked a home run and brought home two runs for the Falcons. The Hawks will host Columbus on Monday, June 17th, at 7 pm.
New London fell to Mediapolis last night 13-0. Avery Bandy and Avalynn Prall each collected three RBIs in the winning effort. The Tigers will travel to Cardinal for a tournament today.
Mediapolis will face off against Louisa-Muscatine on Monday at 7:30 pm at home.
Fairfield and West Burlington will compete in a tournament today at Oskaloosa.
Mt. Pleasant will compete in a tournament at Wapello today.

Van Buren County will host Hillcrest Academy on Monday, June 17th, at 7 pm.
High School Cross Country
Mt. Pleasant will be starting their optional summer runs on Monday, June 17th. The runs are a great way to get in shape and to run with others. The runs are available for 7th through 12th graders and will often be led by upperclassmen as coaches may not be present for every run.
On Mondays and Wednesdays the runs will start at 6:30 am at the Old Threshers Museum Theatre and on Tuesdays and Thursdays they will be at Saunders Park by the swimming pool at 7 pm.

Prospect League
The Burlington Bees snapped their four game losing streak last night with a 4-2 home victory against the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp. Cooper Donlin and Merrick Matthews each picked up an RBI in the win as Bobby Helt went 6.2 innings, notching three strikeouts in the win.
The Clinton LumberKings could not contain the late surge of the Lafayette Aviators last night, losing 14-9. RJ Sherwood slugged a double and tallied a team leading three RBIs.
The Bees will host the LumberKings tonight at 6:30 pm.
