Prep Boys’ Basketball: New London Survives in OT, Other Area Finals

New London 50, West Burlington 47 (OT) 

New London stayed unbeaten, but needed overtime to do it as they withstood West Burlington 50-47.

It was the debut for Blaise Porter after missing the team’s first three games.

Porter had 17 points, while Kade Benjamin chipped in with 14 points and nine boards.

West Burlington took a 39-30 lead into the fourth quarter behind a huge 20-8 third quarter run.

Parker Lau had 12 points to pace the Falcons while Brady Martin chipped in with 10.

New London, 4-0, will take on Danville Friday.

West Burlington will scrap with WACO.

Winfield-Mount Union 37, Mediapolis 23

Carter Loyd scored a game-high 13 points as Winfield-Mount Union outslugged Mediapolis 37-23 last night in Mediapolis.

Cam Buffington had 10 points, while Abram Edwards chipped in with six.

Winfield-Mount Union led 14-12 at halftime, before running out to a 23-11 run in the second half.

Elijah Grier and Jackson Hutcheson each scored six points to lead Mediapolis. Ryan Ensminger added five.

Winfield remained undefeated at 5-0.

Mediapolis fell to 5-1.

WACO 64, Van Buren County 29 

Mason Miller had 15 points while Hunter Hughes chipped in with 10 as WACO rolled to an easy win over Van Buren County, 64-29.

11 different players got into the scorer’s column for the Warriors.

Jackson Manning led Van Buren with 13 points.

WACO stayed hot, they’re now 5-1.

Van Buren County slipped to 1-5.

Danville 72, Holy Trinity 35 

Danville raced out to an early lead and never looked back as the Bears put it in cruise control in a 72-35 win over Holy Trinity last night.

Drake Johnson and Caiden Gourley paced Danville with 17 points apiece.

Sawyer Nelson scored 13 points, while Ty Carr finished with nine.

Danville, receiving votes in the latest AP Top 10 poll, is now 6-0 on the year.

Holy Trinity slumped to 1-5.
