Prep Softball: Mount Pleasant Falls in Two, West Burlington Cruises Past New London; Other Finals

Burlington 21, Mount Pleasant 1

Burlington 11, Mount Pleasant 1 

Burlington combined for 32 runs over two games, as the Mount Pleasant softball team was swept 21-1 and 11-1 yesterday at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex.

Emma Starr allowed nine runs — five earned — in her lone inning in the circle in game one.

Grace Kelley had a hit for the Panthers in the opener.

In game two, Madison Helling allowed eight earned in 4.1 innings as Burlington won 11-1.

Kelley had a double in game two with a run scored.

Mount Pleasant fell to 0-13.

West Burlington 10, New London 0 

Kylee Logan had three hits, including a double and a run batted in as West Burlington rolled to a 10-0 win over New London last night.

Lauren Summers was once again incredibly dominant in the circle, allowing two base runners — one hit and one walk — while striking out 12 over five scoreless frames.

Natalie Burden had the lone hit for New London.

Sophie Malott took the loss in the circle for the Tigers.

New London fell to 3-9.

Wapello 2, Louisa-Muscatine 1 

Toni Bohlen doubled and drove in one as Wapello stunned No. 3 (2A) Louisa-Muscatine 2-1 last night.

Aliyah Lolling worked seven innings allowing six hits and the lone run.

Wapello snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Falcons with the win, as they improved to 6-5.

Louisa-Muscatine fell to 6-3.

Winfield-Mount Union 7, Lone Tree 0 

Madie Anderson was up to her usual tricks, striking out thirteen hitters over seven innings as Winfield-Mount Union earned a 7-0 win over Lone Tree last night.

Anna Anderson had two hits and run batted in, while Emma Haines also had a two hit night.

The win propelled Winfield-Mount Union to 9-2.

Lone Tree fell to 7-6.
