New London — The Mount Pleasant and New London softball teams will meet up tonight in a nonconference crossover in New London in our featured matchup on KILJ-FM.

The Panthers are searching for their first win of the season tonight, coming in with a record of 0-10.

Savana Walls leads the team with a .450 batting average, two runs and two doubles.

Freshman Emma Starr has pitched six innings and has struck out one.

Meanwhile, New London, a substate qualifier from a year ago, has gone through similar growing pains with a younger roster.

Elly Manning has been terrific through the first 10 games, however.

The sophomore is hitting .593 with 11 runs scored, three RBI, three doubles and four stolen bases.

She’s also pitched 40 innings with a 3.15 ERA.

Ashlyn McSorely is hitting .400 with a team high 15 runs batted in and four doubles.

Mount Pleasant has won four of the last five meetings between the clubs.

Tonight’s game will begin at 7:00 p.m.
