High School Cross Country
To prepare for the upcoming season, Mt. Pleasant held runs throughout the summer and their annual cross country camp. For Panther girls’ head coach Lyle Murray, it was an excellent bonding experience for the program heading into the 2026 season,
“Yeah, so the summer runs went pretty well. You know, a lot of the kids are busy with multiple events. So, you know, sometimes the numbers for the summer runs are down a little bit, but had some consistency. Camp was a success. The whole girls team was there and most of the boys team was there. It was hot. It was extremely hot. So they did very, very well. And we were very fortunate to have some people offer us either a pond or a swimming pool and that made it a little easier on the kids.”
Coach Murray thanked the Boosters Club, the Henry County Conservation Board, and the families that helped make the camp possible.

College Football
The University of Iowa will be depending on their rushing attack this year to lead the squad to success. That expectation is resting on fourth-year running back Kamari Moulton, who was added to the Doak Walker Award watch list, and fourth-year offensive lineman Kade Pieper, who was named an Associated Press preseason First Team All-American.
Moulton finished last year with a team leading 878 yards on 5.2 yards per carry with five rushing touchdowns. The All-Big Ten honorable mention hopes to join former Hawkeye Shonn Greene as an award winner, which is given to the nation’s top running back.
Pieper has assembled quite the list of preseason accolades, as he has been named First Team All-America from Walter Camp, Sporting News, Athlon, and Phil Steele, while also being put on the watch lists for the Outland Trophy, Rimington Trophy, and the Lombardi Award.
