Prep Track: Day One Provides Five Area Medalists:

Five KILJ-area athletes earned medals on Day One of the Iowa High School State Track and Field Championships.

In Class 3A, Mount Pleasant Panther senior Grace Kelley threw 124-06 which was good for 7th place in her first state track appearance.

Also in 3A, the Mount Pleasant Girls’ Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Karsyn Lamm, Kenna Lamm, Josie Gilmore, Jenna Gilmore will run in Saturday’s finals after placing 7th in prelims with a time of 1:09.13, they too will earn a medal and can finish no worse than eighth.

In Class 1A, three area competitors have earned medals.

In the 3000m run Addison Parrott of Danville earned a medal after finishing as runner up in the 3000m run.

Parrott went 10:33.21, losing out narrowly to Peyton Poegee of Tri-Center who ran 10:32.91.

In 1A boys’ shot put, New London’s Carter Allen finished fourth overall after a toss of 50 feet, 8 3/4 inches.

He came into the field as the fifth seed and left as the first ever medalist in boys’ shot put history at New London High School.

The final medalist was Danville freshman Kenna Furland in the 1A girls’ long jump.

Furnalds best jump Thursday was 15 feet, 6 1/4 inches.

She earns a medal in her first ever trip to the State Meet.

Prep Track: Day Two of the State Track and Field Championships Commences Today:

Day Two of the Iowa High School State Track and Field Championships begins today at the Blue Oval and all eyes will be on Jadan Brumbaugh who will compete at 9:00 a.m. this morning.

9:45 a.m. — Boys’ 110m Hurdle Prelims: Bryce Wilson (Mount Pleasant)

10:05 a.m. — Girls’ 100m Hurdle Prelims: Kenna Lamm, Karsyn Lamm (Mount Pleasant)

10:25 a.m. — Boys’ 4×200 Relay Finals: Cole Lipper, Kadin Salek, Andrew McPherson, Anthony Isley (Mediapolis)

11:35 a.m. — Boys’ Shot: Cooper Pullis (Mount Pleasant)

11:45 a.m. — Girls’ Long Jump: Karsyn Lamm (Mount Pleasant)

12:15 p.m. — Boys Distance Medley Finals: Chase Williamson, Will Davidson, Reean Seberg, Isaiah Albright (Mount Pleasant)

12:45 p.m. — Girls’ 4×100 Relay Prelims: Bailey Jalas, Karsyn Lamm, Josie Gilmore, Kenna Lamm (Mount Pleasant)

1:05 p.m. — Boys’ 4×100 Relay Prelims: Mediapolis (44.75)

2:10 p.m. — Boys’ 4×400 Relay Prelims: Mediapolis (3:31.26)

Boys’ Golf: Panthers Finish Third in District Meet:

The Mount Pleasant boys’ golf team finished third at Thursday’s district golf meet hosted by Notre Dame at Flint Hills Golf Club.

The top two teams were Solon and Monticello, who have both moved on to the Class 3A State Golf Meet.

Mount Pleasant finished 30 strokes behind Monticello for third.

Brevin Wilson led the way for the Panthers with an 82, he narrowly missed out on an individual trip to the state meet missing the cut by just one stroke.

Nick Matheney added and 83, while Reece Kempker carded an 85.
