Postseason High School Softball
In Class 1A Region 8, #14 Holy Trinity Catholic ran into their match, losing 9-1 to #9 Wayne. The Crusaders finished their historical season with a 23-6 record.
In Class 2A Region 3, Van Buren County held close to Regina Catholic last night but could not keep up in a 4-1 final. The Warriors claimed a 12-17 record for the season.
In Class 3A Region 8, Washington will play West Liberty tonight at 7 pm on the road.
Fairfield will host Mediapolis tonight at 7 pm.
In Class 4A Region 5, Fort Madison will travel to North Scott tonight at 7 pm.
#12 Burlington will welcome Central DeWitt tonight at 7 pm.
Postseason High School Baseball
In Class 3A Substate 3, Washington lost to Clear Creek Amana last night, 10-0. The Demons finished the year with a 9-16 record.
In Class 3A Substate 5, Fairfield had their game against Williamsburg moved to today at 1 pm due to the weather last night.
Due to weather, Mt. Pleasant and Burlington had their postseason matchup postponed to today at 1 pm. KILJ 105.5 FM, kilj.com, will be on the call with the pregame show at 12:45 pm.
Solon defeated Keokuk last night, 7-0. The Chiefs finished with a 1-23 record.
In Class 3A Substate 6, Fort Madison pulled off one of the biggest upsets by taking down the top-seed of the bracket, Marion, last night, 2-1. Caden Rehm went all seven innings and struck out five in the winning effort. The Bloodhounds will travel to Knoxville on Monday, July 13th, at 7 pm.
In Class 1A Substate 6 District 11, Burlington Notre Dame will travel to Sigourney tonight at 7 pm for the District Championship.
In Class 2A Substate 4 District 8, Mediapolis will make the trip back to Regina Catholic for a matchup against the Regals at 7 pm tonight.
In Class 2A Substate 5 District 9, Central Lee will host Albia tonight at 7 pm.
Mt. Pleasant Cross Country
Summer runs are underway for the Mt. Pleasant Cross Country team. These runs are optional but a great way to run with others and get in shape for the fall season. The runs are available to anyone entering 7th through 12th grades. Coaches may not be present at every run, as they are often led by upperclassmen.
On Mondays, the runs will take place at 6:30 am at the Old Threshers Museum Theatre. Wednesdays will be high school speed day at 7 am at Mapleleaf and Tuesdays and Thursdays will take place at Saunders Park by the swimming pool at 7 pm.
The runs will continue through the middle of August until the Mt. Pleasant Cross County camp. If you have any questions, you can contact Coach Lyle Murray at 319-850-0867.
Local Athletic Camps
Mt. Pleasant will be hosting their volleyball camps starting in late July at the high school gym. The youth camp for grades 3rd through 6th will run from July 20th through the 22nd from 5:30 to 7 pm. The camp cutoff date is July 15th.

The middle school camp for grades 7th and 8th and the high school camp for 9th through 12th graders will run August 3rd through the 5th with the middle school going from 4 to 5:30 pm and the high school to follow from 6 to 8 pm. The cutoff date is July 23rd.

Prospect League
The Burlington Bees were unable to execute the series sweep of the Normal CornBelters last night, losing 5-4. Juan Fernandez opened the contest with a two-run homer. The Bees are back at home to face off against the Danville Dans tonight at 6:30 pm.
The Clinton LumberKings demolished the Alton River Dragons last night, 18-7. Six of the nine starters finished the night with at least one RBI. The LumberKings will travel to play the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp tonight at 6:35 pm.
