Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant Varsity Baseball was defeated 15-1 by Marion in 5 innings at Mount Mercy University Friday evening. The loss effectively ends the Panthers season. Mount Pleasant finishes the 2022 campaign 9-19 overall and 7-13 in Southeast Conference play. Mount Pleasant Head Coach Brent Broeker following the game, “We were 11 runs from being a much higher seed. I told the boys to not hang their heads. Even though our record doesn’t show it, we were better this year and hopefully they’ll stay positive and have a good year next year.”

New London

New London Varsity Baseball will take on Burlington Notre Dame in the District 11 championship of the Class 1A-Substate 6 postseason on Saturday night. Live coverage will be available on KILJ. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the Sigourney and Moravia game in the State Qualifier game on Tuesday night.

MLB

San Diego Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar has been released from the hospital after a collision with rookie shortstop C.J. Abrams Thursday night. Profar was released Friday from UC San Diego Health and was diagnosed with a concussion and a neck strain.
