High School Baseball

Mt. Pleasant defeated Davis County yesterday 11-6. Payton Walker picked up the win. The Panthers will take on Fairfield tonight on the road. KILJ will be on the call with pregame at 7:15 pm.

New London will host Van Buren County tonight.

Danville will take on Central Lee for their senior night tonight.

Central Lee held off Hillcrest Academy’s comeback attempt last night to win 6-5. James Hemingsen tallied 2 RBIs and Kayden Ames finished 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs for the Hawks.

Mediapolis handled Louisa-Muscatine 11-0 yesterday. The Bulldogs play against West Burlington today.

In Southeast conference (SEC) play, Washington and Keokuk along with Fort Madison and Burlington continue their series tonight.

High School Softball

Mt. Pleasant fell to Cardinal last night 12-0 after 6 innings. Saige Burchett picked up the lone single for the Panthers. The Panthers will travel to face off against Fairfield tonight.

Central Lee defeated Hillcrest Academy last night 15-0. Layla Gonterman and Shanna Buford led the Hawks with 2 RBIs apiece.

Danville will take on Central Lee at home tonight for their senior night.

New London will host Van Buren County tonight.

Winfield-Mt. Union will travel to take on Lone Tree today.

Holy Trinity Catholic fell to Wapello yesterday 10-4. The Crusaders will take on Van Buren County tomorrow, June 23rd.

Van Buren County handled Mediapolis last night 13-1. Sophia Jirak led the team with 4 RBIs and Ally Cambell picked up the win from the circle notching 2 strikeouts. The Bulldogs will face off against West Burlington today with first pitch at 7 pm.

In SEC games, Burlington will face off against Fort Madison and Keokuk will square off against Washington tonight.

Mt. Pleasant Cross Country

On Mondays and Wednesdays, runs will begin at the Old Threshers Museum Theatre at 6:30 am.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, runs will start at 7 pm at Saunders Park by the swimming pool.

Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA)

The Iowa High School Sports Network (IHSSN) announced their pay-per-view format to livestreaming state tournaments for boys high school athletics on Tuesday. The IHSAA responded yesterday by filing a lawsuit.

The IHSSN announced the plan would be introduced during this year’s baseball state tournament and the charge would be $9.99 per game and $18.99 for a tournament pass.

The IHSAA is seeking a “declaration from the court as to the rights of the parties with respect to charging fees to the public under the relevant media rights agreement.” The IHSAA is looking to bring free public access to future championship broadcasts.

Prospect League

The Burlington Bees lost to the Cape Catfish last night 12-3. Trent Rice, Jaden Hackbarth, and Jackson Fisher all picked up RBIs last night in the losing effort. The Bees will take on the Alton River Dragons tonight on the road.

The Clinton LumberKings will host the Lafayette Aviators tomorrow, June 23rd.
