High School Volleyball

The Holy Trinity Catholic Crusaders are the Class 1A Region 8 Regional Champions after pulling off the upset over the Burlington Notre Dame Nikes 3 sets to 1 by scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-17, and 25-21. The Crusaders were flying around getting every loose ball and playing excellent defense at the net. They will play next Tuesday, November 1st, against Gladbrook-Reinbeck.

New London’s season ended last night in a fifth set heartbreaker to Springville by scores of 29-27, 25-23, 20-25, 21-25, and 14-16 as the Orioles fought back from a 2 set to nothing deficit.

High School Football

The WACO Warriors will host Central City for the second round of the playoffs for 8-man football. KILJ will have the call with pregame at 6:45 pm, kickoff at 7. The other matchup in WACO’s pod is Easton Valley traveling to play Montezuma.

In Mt. Pleasant’s district, North Scott will play Western Dubuque in the first round of the playoffs. Iowa City Liberty will host Webster City in the first round of the playoffs. Fort Madison will travel to play Waverly-Shell Rock tomorrow.

Mt. Pleasant Cross Country

The Mount Pleasant Panthers Cross Country team had a runner qualify for State in their last race at Washington. Ben Carthey finished in 7th place with his best time of the season, 16 minutes 40 seconds. Carthey had been finishing in the top 10 for all of his races this season, slowly improving his time from race to race, and shaved 1 minute 5 seconds off his time from the beginning of the season.

Ben Carthey will run at the state meet Saturday, October 29th, at 11:45 am at Fort Dodge.

Elementary Basketball Tournament

Mount Pleasant Christmas Holidays 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament for 3rd – 8th grade boys and girls will be held on Dec 17th, 2022. For more registration details contact Coach Ronnie Ashton at 319-931-2896.

Iowa Wesleyan Athletics

The Tiger volleyball team fell in straight sets to Monmouth College last night 25-14, 25-21, and 25-11. Shea Scott led the Tigers in kills with 5 and Mackenzie Springsteen tallied 11 assists. Their next game will be against Harris-Stowe State University to end their regular season at 6 pm.

The men’s soccer team next game will be Saturday, October 29th, against Waldorf University at 3 pm.

The women’s basketball team’s first game will be tonight, October 27th, against College of Saint Mary’s in the Saint Mary’s Classic.

The men’s basketball team opens the season against Dickinson State tomorrow, October 28th, in the Bellevue Classic at 3 pm.

The Tiger football team will be back at home this Saturday, October 29th, to take on Dakota State University at 1 pm. Coach Daniels will join us on Tiger Nation at 9 am this morning.

The women’s soccer team will play Waldorf this Saturday, October 29th, at 1 pm as that will conclude their regular season.
