State Qualifiers for Girls’ Wrestling in Southeastern Iowa

Prep Girls’ Wrestling- In the inaugural year of sanctioned girls’ wrestling for the state of Iowa, Southeastern Iowa will have plenty of representatives in Coralville at the Xtream Arena. Here are some of the wrestlers and what place they finished in at the Regional Qualifier to make it to state.

Ella McNamee from Mt. Pleasant will be representing the Panthers in the 105-pound weight class sporting a 23-4 record going into the state competition. She finished in 3rd place after defeating Jacey Mason of Davenport by fall. Stay tuned to KILJ for an interview with McNamee.

WACO has three  representatives going to state, including two 2nd place finishers. Rylee Rice at 110-pounds dominated the competition making it to the Championship match, but fell to Kate Seery of Linn-Mar by decision to claim 2nd place. Bralyyn Wagler, who is 29-5 on the season, was the other 2nd place finish with a narrow defeat against Trinity Young of Linn-Marr by fall. Wagler will be competing in the 235-pound weight class. Grace Fort at the 190-pound weight class will be the last Warrior representing WACO, as she placed 4th defeating Zenlynn Lee by fall earlier in the tournament earning a no contest in the fourth place match. Wapello will have one wrestler compete at state, as Madi Lundvall narrowly defeated Jacey Mason of Davenport by decision in the 4th place match. She will be competing in the 105-pound weight class.

Teegan Sulentich of Washington dominated the 155-pound weight class for much of the year sporting a 30-5 record going into state. She earned 2nd place after falling to Jorie Hanenburg of North Scott in the championship bout.

Fort Madison had a Regional Qualifier champion in Hailey Kemper at the 100-pound weight class. The Bloodhound went 3-0 in the tournament and defeated Gabi Robertson of Mid-Prairie by fall in the championship match.

Mid-Prairie will have three other wrestlers represent the Golden Hawks at state. Ellie Brenneman at 135 pounds claimed 2nd place after falling in the championship bout to Dakota Whitman of Independence. She is 35-9 on the season. Grace Conway will be competing in the 140-pound weight class after winning the 3rd place match by fall over Josephine Budederi of Cedar Rapids Jefferson. Lastly, Ellie Callahan defeated Joscelyn Stricker of Cedar Rapids Kennedy by a 6-2 decision in the 170-pound 3rd place match.

Louisa-Muscatine will have Molly Bramble compete in the 235-pound weight class after finishing in 4th place.

Keokuk will have Jalyiah Garder compete in the 155-pound weight class after capturing 4th place in a no contest.

Jasmine Luedtke won the 110-pound championship match for Ottumwa, and Deliah Subsin will be competing at 190-pounds for the Bulldogs after going 3-1, only falling in the championship match by fall to Halley Beaudet of Dallas Center-Grimes.

The State Championship will be taking place Thursday and Friday, February 2nd and 3rd, KILJ will have results as they come in.
