The diversity of southeast Iowa will be celebrated this weekend during the fourth annual TapestryFest in Mount Pleasant.
The free, family-friendly event will take place Saturday from 1 until 4 p.m. in Central Park. TapestryFest is co-sponsored by PFLAG Mount Pleasant and IowaWINs and celebrates the many cultures represented throughout the community.
The festival is designed to bring people together by highlighting different traditions, experiences, and perspectives while encouraging mutual respect and understanding.
This year’s entertainment includes Calle Sur, featuring Colombian musician Karin Stein and Panamanian musician Edgar East, performing a blend of acoustic music inspired by Latin America. The festival will also feature cultural music and dance performances, international food vendors, interactive exhibits, children’s activities focused on cultural awareness, and informational booths hosted by local nonprofit organizations.
Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
