Mount Pleasant is preparing to take a step back in time as part of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebrations.
Preparations are underway for the opening of a 50-year-old time capsule, scheduled for July 3rd at 4:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the Henry County Courthouse. The event will be part of Mount Pleasant’s Pleasantly Patriotic celebration, marking 250 years since the founding of the United States.
Today, Wilbert Excavation crews completed dirt work at the courthouse site to prepare for the ceremonial unveiling.
The time capsule opening will give residents a glimpse into what community members preserved a half-century ago, offering a unique look at local history and how Mount Pleasant has changed over the decades.
The two day celebration is expected to draw residents of all ages as the community comes together to celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary.
