Two people are facing felony drug charges following a late-night investigation by the Fairfield Police Department.
According to police, officers were investigating suspicious activity at about 10:37 Monday night in the 1600 block of West Burlington Avenue after observing two individuals parked in a vehicle at a business. During the investigation, officers reportedly saw drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.
Police say a search of the vehicle and its occupants led to the discovery of controlled substances on both the driver and passenger. Both were taken into custody without incident.
48 year old Timothy Daniel Fluharty of Brighton was charged with possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a Class D felony.
38 year old Hollie Marie Brake of Wayland was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, both Class D felonies, along with possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
Both were transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where they were held on bond pending an initial court appearance.
As always, criminal charges are allegations, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
