Two Lee County Seniors Awarded Brownfield Youth Ag Award

Two outstanding Southeast Iowa students have been recognized with the 2026 Brownfield Iowa Youth Ag Award.

KILJ Radio is a longtime Brownfield affiliate, sharing agricultural news and information with listeners across the region. Through that partnership, the station presents the annual Brownfield Iowa Youth Ag Award to recognize one male and one female graduating senior who demonstrate leadership, dedication, and a passion for agriculture through their involvement in FFA and 4-H.

This year’s female recipient is Emma Mohrfeld of West Point, the daughter of Brian and Sara Mohrfeld. Emma has been active in Holy Trinity FFA, 4-H, the Lee County 4-H County Council, volleyball, and golf. She has exhibited market steers for nine years and sheep for five years and plans to attend Iowa State University this fall to study Animal Science.

The male recipient is Brody Moeller of West Point, the son of Terry and Liz Moeller. Brody has been active in the Busy Workers 4-H Club, Central Lee FFA, the Louisa County 4-H Livestock Judging Club, and the Lee County 4-H Teen Council. He also owns and operates Moeller Show Goats, raising and marketing show goats while mentoring younger exhibitors.

Among Brody’s accomplishments are Grand Champion Market Goat and Grand Champion Breeding Goat honors at the 2025 Iowa State Fair. He also represented Iowa at the 2026 National Western Roundup, where he earned High Individual Overall honors in the 4-H Livestock Judging Contest and helped lead his team to the overall championship. Brody will attend Redlands Community College in Oklahoma this fall to study Animal Science and compete on the college’s nationally recognized livestock judging team.

The Brownfield Iowa Youth Ag Award celebrates young Iowans who are making a positive impact on agriculture today while preparing to become the industry’s future leaders.
