Access Energy Cooperative is reminding residents not to attach signs, posters or other materials to utility poles.
Nails, staples, tacks and other fasteners left in wooden poles can tear the protective gloves and clothing worn by lineworkers. They can also damage climbing equipment and create a serious safety hazard for crews working to maintain or restore electrical service.
This includes garage sale signs, political advertisements, event posters, lost-pet notices and other community announcements.
Residents are encouraged to place signs on their own posts or use approved community bulletin boards instead.
Access Energy Cooperative says keeping utility poles clear is a simple way to help protect the lineworkers who keep electricity flowing throughout the community.
