KILJ — Former Mount Pleasant standout Sam Beatty was crowned champion of the high jump in the American Rivers Conference over the weekend.
Beatty, now competing for Central College, cleared 6-7 1/2 to earn first place honors.
Beatty, an environmental studies major, enjoyed a terrific sophomore campaign that saw him haul in a conference field athlete of the week honor earlier this year as well as competing at the Drake Relays in Des Moines.
