Girls’ Soccer: Mediapolis Advances, Winfield Falls

KILJ — Class 1A girls’ postseason soccer commenced yesterday.

Here’s a look at the area scores:

Mediapolis 2, West Liberty 1 

Mediapolis scored the final tally in extra time, as the Bullettes snuck by West Liberty 2-1 in a Class 1A quarterfinal last night.

The win snapped a two match losing skid for Mediapolis.

They are now 4-10-1.

They’ll take on top-seeded Davenport Assumption next Tuesday in the semis.

Assumption knocked off Wapello 14-0.

Mid-Prairie 10, Columbus Comm. / Winfield-Mount Union 0

Mid-Prairie sophomore Sophia Baker scored two goals helping aid Mid-Prairie to a 10-nil victory over Columbus Comm. – Winfield-Mount Union last night.

The Golden Hawks scored five times in the first and second half en route to the the victory.

Winfield closes their season 7-5.

Mid-Prairie advances to the semifinal round where they will take on Solon.
