Boys’ Soccer: Notre Dame to State, Fort Madison Upended

KILJ — Class 1 and 2A postseason boys’ soccer held their substate finals last night.

No. 1 (1A) Notre Dame 4, Mediapolis 1

The West Burlington-Notre Dame Nike boys’ soccer team is heading to the state soccer tournament for the first time in school history.

Yesterday the Nikes knocked off Mediapolis 4-1 which punched their ticket to the dance.

Cole Ward scored three goals for the Nikes, while Parker Davis notched the other tally.

Drew Zurmuehlen scored the lone goal for Mediapolis.

The Bulldogs close their season 13-6.

Pella 1, Fort Madison 0 

Pella goalkeeper Mason Holland recorded 13 saves as the Little Dutch snuck by Fort Madison 1-nil in a Class 2A Substate Final last night.

Will Rasmussen scored the only marker in overtime to propel the Little Dutch to the Class 2A State Tournament.

Fort Madison closes their year 16-2.
