Boys’ Prep Basketball: Schulte Shines in New London Win; Other Prep Finals

New London 70, West Burlington 57

New London welcomed back Kade Benjamin from injury, but it was Kooper Schulte who helped lead the New London boys’ to a 70-57 win over West Burlington last night.

Devin Swanson had a game-high 18 points to lead the Tigers but Schulte hit 7-of-8 shots to finish with a season-high 17.

Blaise Porter had 15, while Benjamin chipped in with eight.

Jackson Riley and Mason Porter each pumped in 14 for the Falcons.

New London is now 12-1 and 11-1 in Super Conference play.

West Burlington dropped to 8-7.

Winfield-Mount Union 44, Mediapolis 31

A 17-6 run was all Winfield-Mount Union needed in a 44-31 win over Mediapolis last night.

Abram Edwards and Cam Buffington each had 13 to lead Winfield to their 15th win in 16 games.

Mediapolis dropped to 9-4.

WACO 71, Van Buren 45

In a battle of Warriors, it was WACO pulling out a 71-45 win over Trey Magnani and Van Buren County in Keosauqua, yesterday.

Hunter Hughes had 20 for WACO — he led all scorers.

Jackson Manning and Owen Loeffler had 13 apiece for Van Buren County.

WACO is now 13-3.

Van Buren County fell to 2-12.

No. 10 Danville 63, Holy Trinity 41

Fresh into the Class 1A AP Top 10 poll, Danville rolled to a 63-41 win over Holy Trinity.

Drake Johnson had 24 points to led the Bears, while Caiden Gourley had 15.

Cadence Williams added 10.

Mike DiPrima was the high point man for the Crusaders with 12 points.

Danville is now 14-1, they’ll get a Friday night main event with New London.
