Fernando Tatis Jr. Faces 80 Game Suspension

The young San Diego Padres superstar, Fernando Tatis Jr., tested positive for Clostebol, which violates Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Tatis will not appeal the suspension saying that it was a mistake as he did not know the medication he was taking to treat Ringworm contained the banned substance. Tatis missed the first four months of the season due to a motorcycle accident that broke his wrist requiring surgery and was on a Minor League rehab assignment before the suspension went into effect Friday.

Padres general manager, AJ Preller, expressed disappointment in his statement about the situation, “I think from our standpoint, obviously he’s a great talent, he’s a guy we have a lot of history with and do believe in, but these things only work when there’s trust both ways.”

Tatis will not be allowed to play for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic and fans will have to wait until early in the 2023 season before he will be on the field again.

Zach Wilson Leaves Preseason Game Limping

The New York Jets’ starting quarterback, Zach Wilson, had a rough start against the Philadelphia Eagles in Friday’s preseason game. Wilson threw an interception on the fifth play for the Jets. Four plays later, as Wilson was moving out of the pocket, his knee buckled and he hit the turf awkwardly. He attempted to limp off but went back down in pain. Wilson missed four games last year after spraining his PCL against the Patriots in week 7. The Jets are looking to improve from their 4-13 record last year.
