Caitlin Clark Grabs Another Player of the Week Award as the Hawkeyes Move Up the Rankings

NCAA- Caitlin Clark is collecting awards faster than she is putting up points and that is saying something for the all-time leader in points in Iowa women’s basketball history. Clark earned Big Ten Player of the Week, her 20th time receiving a weekly conference honor.

The Gulf Coast Showcase was exactly that for the senior. Clark averaged 27.3 points, 6.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 2 steals per game over the span of the three contests, including a revenge game against #14 Kansas State that the Hawkeyes took 77-70 to win the Showcase. This nabbed her the Most Valuable Player award for the tournament.

The win helped move the Hawkeyes up a spot in the rankings to #4 in the Associated Press Top-25 after the loss earlier in the season dropped them from #2 to #5.

Their 7-1 start is their best since the 2020-21 season where they also started the year 7-1. Iowa has not started the year 9-1 since the 2017-18 season.

The Hawkeyes will host Bowling Green on Saturday, December 2nd, at 12:30 pm. The Cy-Hawk series will dictate whether they start the year 9-1 or not when the Hawkeyes travel to Ames on December 6th at 6 pm.
