Fulton (Mo.) — The Iowa Wesleyan football team jumped out to a 28-7 lead before the half, as they rolled past Westminster 35-14 yesterday in the final UMAC spring football game.

Freshman quarterback Gavin Esquivel finished 26-of-40 for 388 yards and three scores, while Hezekiah Hunter had 10 carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns of his own.

Jaden Harris led the aerial attack with four catches for 105 yards, while Jerry Carbajal and Matt Nails each finished with 79 yards receiving.

Chance Colby, a Columbus Junction native, finished with a team high 11 tackles, while Austin McBeth — a New London alum — added six tackles and an interception.

Wesleyan closes their spring year 1-2.

They’ll return to the gridiron in full this fall.
