Girls’ Tennis: Panthers Pick Up Dual Win

Mount Pleasant — The Mount Pleasant girls’ tennis team received a strong performance from No. 1 singles player Savana Walls as the Panthers picked up a 5-4 win over Notre Dame-West Burlington in a nonconference tennis dual at East Lake Park yesterday.

Walls cruised to an 8-0 win over Grace Kohlhof.

Also earning singles win for Mount Pleasant were Melanie Olivas and Maleena Yocum.

Walls and Gisele Fajardo won their doubles bout 8-6, while Yocum and Jeeny Dykstra were victorious in No. 3 doubles winning 8-3.

The win moved the Panthers to 1-5.

Notre Dame slumped to 0-4.

  • Mount Pleasant boys’ at Maharishi (3:30 p.m.)
  • Mount Pleasant girls’ vs. Fort Madison (4:30 p.m.)
