In the event of an emergency, it’s the blood already on the shelves that helps. ImpactLife in Southeast Iowa sent blood to New Orleans this week in the aftermath of the mass casualty event. This is part of ImpactLife’s partnership with Blood Emergency Readiness Corps – BERC.

ImpactLife in Burlington Joined BERC In 2021 as one of the four charter programs to join the nationwide blood supply effort. Some people may wonder what happens to our local blood supply if we are sending blood supplies into emergency situations. Lori reassures you that there is a due process to make sure we continue to protect and supply our local region first.
Blood centers that are a part of BERC rotate on a four week “on-call” schedule and it the New Orleans tragedy this week happened while ImpactLife is on-call; So Their donations were sent out Wednesday morning. Mt. Pleasant REC Center will host a community blood drive with ImpactLife, TODAY from 3:15 pm to 5:45 pm on Friday, January 3 at 200 E Monroe ST, inside Meeting Room.
