The Iowa Department of Transportation is asking for public input as it seeks federal funding to replace more than 20 bridges across the state, including one in Henry County.
The bridge identified for replacement in Henry County is located on 140th Street over Sugar Creek, just west of Franklin Avenue. The Iowa DOT is partnering with more than 20 cities and counties in a joint application for federal grant funding to improve aging bridge infrastructure.
As part of the application process, residents are encouraged to complete a short public survey. Officials say the survey will help them better understand how the bridges are used, what they mean to local communities, and whether residents support wider, safer bridge designs that can accommodate heavier vehicles and modern traffic needs.
The survey takes about five minutes to complete and is available online. Residents can participate by visiting the Iowa DOT bridge survey.
The feedback collected will be used to strengthen the state’s federal grant application and help demonstrate the need for bridge improvements in communities across Iowa, including Henry County.
