A 33-year-old Fairfield man is facing a felony stalking charge after allegedly continuing to make unwanted contact with a female victim despite an active no-contact order.
Joseph Mickels has been charged with a Class C Felony, Stalking — Violation of Protective Order.
On June 26th, Mickels came to the victim’s residence and placed flowers on her vehicle for the second time in a week. When she didn’t respond, Mickels attempted to speak with her at her residence. The victim did not open the door and asked him to leave her alone.
Also, according to court documents, Mickels had previously been arrested for violating a no-contact order, and that a warrant had been issued for an additional violation that occurred after his initial arrest. The victim told authorities that she fears Mickels actions are escalating.
Mickels is being held on a $30,000 cash only bond with a preliminary hearing scheduled for today.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
