On September 12, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office performed a traffic safety project, focused on the education of the Iowa “Move Over Law” (321.323) for motorists driving through Henry County, Iowa. During this educational project, there were 37 warnings, and 2 citations issued for violations of the Move Over Law. There were 10 other warnings, and 1 citation/charge issued for other traffic related violations during the project as well.
Sheriff McNamee would like to remind all drivers and motorists of the importance of moving over when there is a stopped motor vehicle with lights of any kind activated and/or flashing (hazards, ambers, red/blues), as a failure to move over and/or slow down can have deadly results.
Funding for this educational traffic safety project was provided by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
