Prep Cross Country: Mount Pleasant Boys’ Second, Girls’ DNP at Timm Lamb

Fort Madison — The Mount Pleasant boys’ cross country team got a 7th place effort from Ben Carthey as the Panthers earned second in the boys’ Class A portion of the the Timm Lamb Invitational last night.

Carthey was followed up by Nate McWilliams, who went 19:32.4 for 12th, while Gabe Feldmann finished 15th in 19:48.4.

Washington won the large school division, while Muscatine placed third.

In Class B, Columbus was crowned victorious. The Wildcats were followed up by Mediapolis and Clark Country.

Mediapolis’ Solomon Zaugg was the meet medalist, running 17:54.8 for first place.

Freddy Vergara of Columbus was second, with Mediapolis’ Jeff Campbell placing third in 18:32.5.

Central Lee and Holy Trinity tied for 4th, while Winfield-Mount Union placed sixth.

Gabe Hemsworth led the Wolves with a time of 19:45.4, which placed him 9th overall.

Meanwhile on the girls’ side, due to some bumps and bruises, the Mount Pleasant squad only had three participants.

Belle Meador was the top finisher, placing 23rd in a time of 25:22.8.

Celebrating her 17th birthday, Jayden Housh finished 35th.

Muscatine earned the team championship, while Washington’s Quincy Griffis was the meet champion, finishing in 22:19.5.

In Class B action, Mediapolis took home a second place finish.

Clark County was the Class B champion.
