Prep Volleyball: Notre Dame Finishes Second in Wapello, Other Area Finals

Wapello — In a matchup of two top-10 teams in the state, the Wilton Beavers have the first olive.

The No. 4 (2A) ranked Beavers took down defending state champion and No. 1 (1A) Notre Dame in the championship of the Wapello Tournament, 21-16, 21-17.

Wilton also beat Notre Dame in pool play, where the Nikes beat Columbus, English Valleys and Wapello.

The Arrows placed third in their home tournament, they dispatched of English Valleys and Keota.

Fairfield 3, Mount Pleasant 1 

Mount Pleasant grabbed one set, but saw Fairfield control the flow of the match, as the Trojans cruised to a 3-1 victory over the Panthers yesterday night.

Fairfield took sets one, two and four — winning 25-17, 25-22 and 25-17 to clinch the victory.

Macy Rayburn led the way with nine kills for Fairfield while Maya Lane had eight.

The loss dropped Mount Pleasant to 5-5, they’ll look to right the ship Thursday night when they travel to Albia.

First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
