West Burlington, IA- The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released their ninth edition of the Division II baseball rankings and Southeastern Community College’s busy but successful week led to Blackhawks moving up one spot to #3 in the land.
The offense has been on full display during this recent 10 game surge. In their last nine wins, the Blackhawks have produced double digit runs in seven games. Furthermore, the beginning of last week kept that fervent pace, scoring 17 runs in back-to-back contests.
SCC’s series win over Indian Hills Community College this past weekend cemented their regular season record at 45-11 overall and 29-4 against ICCAC opponents. Against other ranked Region 11 teams, the Blackhawks tout a 6-0 record with a winning difference of at least four runs.
The downside is against non-familiar ranked opponents SCC is 0-5 with a run differential of -17, including an extra innings loss to #14 Black Hawk College.
Nevertheless, SCC occupies the #1-seed in the Division II Region 11 tournament, earning the Blackhawks a first-round bye. They will play either defending champions Des Moines Area Community College or Ellsworth Community College on Friday, May 9th, at 3:30 pm at Merchants Park in Carroll, Iowa.
