Southeastern Looking for a New Head Women’s Basketball Coach

West Burlington- Southeaster Community College (SCC) will be searching for a new Head Women’s Basketball Coach after Steve Williamson decided to step down from the position in on August 4th.

Williamson was coming over from Iowa Wesleyan University after the University closed at the end of May. He finished as the program’s winningest coach after totaling a record of 288-160 in his two stints with the Tigers. Williamson was also a National Coach of the Year along with a five-time Conference Coach of the Year. The Tigers had qualified for the NAIA National Tournament the last two seasons that Williamson returned for.

SCC finished last season with an 0-8 record and had their final 18 games canceled due to roster limitations. The Director of Athletics Peyton Deterding stated,

“We are planning on a season currently. Rosters for women’s basketball have been an area of concern for quite some time but believe we will turn the corner in a positive manner moving forward.”

The Blackhawks are looking for their first winning season since the 2019-20 season when they finished 19-13.
