High School Basketball

The Mt. Pleasant girls team will travel to Danville on Monday, January 15th, to face off against the Bears at 6 pm. 

The Mt. Pleasant boys’ team will hit the road to take on Oskaloosa on Tuesday, January 16th, with tip-off scheduled for 7:45 pm. 

WACO will take on Wapello in a road matchup on Monday with the girls leading off the night at 6 pm. 

Winfield-Mt. Union will tango with WACO on Tuesday with the girls’ game scheduled to start at 6 pm. The two split the matchup back in December with the WACO girls winning and the Winfield-Mt. Union boys taking their contest. 

Van Buren County will host Cardinal on Monday with the girls playing at 6 pm followed by the boys’ game. 

Central Lee will travel to compete against Burlington Notre Dame on Tuesday with the first game starting at 6 pm. 

New London will face off against Danville in a road conference matchup on Tuesday with the girls scheduled to start at 6 pm. KILJ 105.5 FM, kilj.com, will be on the call with the pregame show at 5:45 pm. 

Danville’s matchup against HLV scheduled for today has been postponed. 

Mediapolis had their matchup against Burlington today canceled. The Bulldogs will face off against Holy Trinity Catholic on Tuesday at 6 pm. 

Holy Trinity Catholic will take on Fort Madison today with the girls’ playing at 2:30 pm in a road non-conference game. 

High School Wrestling

The WACO Warrior Invitational scheduled for today has been postponed and moved to Monday, January 15th.

The Centerville tournament that the Mt. Pleasant and Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union boys’ teams were scheduled to attend today has been canceled. 

The Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union boys’ team will compete in a meet hosted by WACO on Thursday, January 18th. 

The Mt. Pleasant boys’ and girls’ teams will compete in a dual against Fairfield on Thursday. 

The Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union girls’ team will participate in a tournament hosted by Louisa-Muscatine on January 20th.

The WACO girls’ wrestling meet at Mid-Prairie scheduled for today has been postponed and moved to Monday. 

High School Bowling

Mt. Pleasant will host Fairfield on January 18th. 

College Basketball

The #3 Iowa women’s team and #14 Indiana will face off in a top-25 matchup tonight at 7 pm in Iowa City. 

The Iowa State women’s team will host #4 Baylor today at noon. 

The Iowa State men’s team will host Oklahoma State tonight at 5 pm. 

The Iowa men’s team shocked Nebraska last night, taking down the Cornhuskers handily 94-76. Six Hawkeyes finished in double figures as Owen Freeman and Payton Sandfort collected double-doubles. Freeman scored 22 points and gathered 10 rebounds, while Sandfort cashed in for 19 points and 10 boards. The Hawkeyes will travel to Minnesota on Monday, January 15th, at 5 pm.

2004 – Toronto’s Tom Fitzgerald and Gary Roberts become the first teammates in NHL history to play their 1,000th NHL game on the same night as the Maple Leafs beat the visiting Calgary Flames, 4-1.

2019 – Houston guard James Harden scores 38 points in a Rockets’ 116-108 loss to the Orlando Magic; marks the 16th straight game with 30-plus points, matching Kobe Bryant’s NBA record streak. Additionally, Harden goes 1 for 17 from the 3-point arc, tying the record for most misses.
