Postseason High School Softball
In Class 1A Region 8, #14 Holy Trinity Catholic relied on their pitching and baserunning to down Pekin last night, 5-0. Sydney Jarvis was nearly perfect on the mound, allowing only one hit, striking out seven, and retiring 19 of the last 20 Panther bats. Makayla Simpson, Cadyn Holmes, and Morgan Krogmeier each tabbed an RBI. Crusader head coach Loren Menke talked about his ace’s effort in the circle,
“Yeah, she’s been doing it all year, she’s a great pitcher. We have a great defense behind her, so she’s confident that if she makes the right pitch, if she hits her spot, even if she doesn’t strike somebody out, the defense will back her up.”
Holy Trinity Catholic will look to avenge their semifinal loss last year with a matchup against Wayne on the road tomorrow, July 10th, at 7 pm. Coach Menke discussed what makes this team special,
“Well, pretty much all these girls played last year, and just to see the improvement from last year to this year, there has been a lot of improvement. These girls work really hard in the offseason, and just to see them continuing to get better, it’s fun as a coach to watch kids improve and get better.”
