A warm and mostly sunny day is on tap across southeast Iowa today, with afternoon highs expected to reach the upper 80s. A light breeze and mostly clear skies will make for pleasant conditions before a more active weather pattern moves in later this week.
According to the National Weather Service, rain and thunderstorm chances will increase beginning Thursday and continue into Friday. Thursday brings a 30 to 60 percent chance of isolated to scattered thunderstorms, with daytime highs in the low to mid-80s.
Storm chances continue Friday, especially during the afternoon and evening across southern Iowa, with highs in the mid-80s and a mix of sun and clouds.
While a few storms could become strong to severe on both Thursday and Friday, forecasters say confidence remains low regarding how widespread any severe weather will be. Residents are encouraged to stay weather aware and keep up with the latest forecasts as the week progresses.
