High School Softball
Holy Trinity Catholic and Van Buren County faced off against one another at the Lady Mohawk Classic over the weekend and the Crusaders took the 8-3 victory over the Warriors. Van Buren County was able to bounce back with a 12-5 victory over Moravia to end the weekend. Ashlynn Huff tabbed two RBIs in the victory.
Holy Trinity Catholic will travel to Columbus tonight at 7 pm.
Danville hosted their Softball bash this past weekend and dominated the competition, beating WACO and Pekin by the same score, 11-0, and Calamus-Wheatland 10-2. Aubrey Nahorny had an excellent weekend, tabbing eight total RBIs and joining Elizabeth Jones and Brynley Wenig by clouting a home run against Pekin.
West Burlington/Notre Dame was equally successful, beating Columbus 15-7 and WACO 18-1. Adley Mundth slashed a triple for three RBIs in the victory over WACO, while Lacie Felkins nabbed four RBIs between the two games.
New London went 1-2, losing to Calamus-Wheatland, 8-1, and Lone Tree, 9-1, before bouncing back to take down Pekin, 4-3. The Tigers will take on Mediapolis at home tonight at 7 pm.
Lastly, Columbus and WACO dropped all three of their contests. The Wildcats also lost to Pekin 10-2 and Calamus-Wheatland 13-9. Iris Garza led the way with a double and three RBIs across the trio of games. WACO also fell to Lone Tree 16-0. Kaylan Willits had the lone RBI for the Warriors.
WACO will hit the road to play Lone Tree tonight at 7 pm.
Central Lee lost to Fort Madison over the weekend, 8-4. The Hawks will face off against Danville at home at 7 pm tonight.
Wapello held a tournament over the weekend and both the Arrows and Mt. Pleasant split their weekend slate. In the head-to-head matchup, Mt. Pleasant pulled out the 6-4 victory, as Erica Gillette nabbed an RBI for Arrows. Wapello would find a 10-0 victory against Camanche due to the all-around effort exhibited by Quinn Zweibohmer, who threw a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 12 and hit a home run at the plate for two RBIs. The Panthers concluded their weekend with a 13-5 loss to Wilton.
Washington will host Mt. Pleasant tonight at 5:30 pm for game one of their doubleheader.
Wapello will play Louisa-Muscatine at home tomorrow, June 23rd, at 7 pm.
Fairfield traveled to Oskaloosa for their Classic and was swept, losing 6-0 to Albia and 12-0 against Van Meter. The Trojans will stay on the road for a doubleheader matchup against Fort Madison tonight with first pitch at 5:30 pm.
High School Baseball
Central Lee rattled off their fourth straight victory after beating Fort Madison 5-3 in extra innings over the weekend. Carter Ellingboe and Wyatt Day each slashed a double for two RBIs in the victory. The Hawks will fly to West Burlington tomorrow, June 23rd, at 7 pm.
Van Buren County fell to Albia at the Mohawk Invite over the weekend, 13-3. The Warriors will make the trip to Danville at 6 pm on Thursday, June 25th.
Burlington Notre Dame competed at the Terry Curtis Classic in Williamsburg over the weekend and split their matchups, losing 10-3 to Central DeWitt before beating the hosts 7-5. The Nikes will head back home to play Danville on Wednesday, June 24th, at 6 pm.
Mt. Pleasant will travel to Washington tonight for a doubleheader with game one at 5:30 pm. KILJ 105.5 FM, kilj.com, will be on the call with the pregame show at 5:15 pm.
Wapello will head to Winfield-Mt. Union tonight at 5:30 pm.
Fairfield will attempt to break their four-game losing streak tonight with a doubleheader against Fort Madison with game one at 5:30 pm on the road.
Mediapolis will play New London on the road at 7 pm tonight.
Mt. Pleasant Cross Country
Summer runs are underway for the Mt. Pleasant Cross Country team. These runs are optional but a great way to run with others and get in shape for the fall season. The runs are available to anyone entering 7th through 12th grades. Coaches may not be present at every run, as they are often led by upperclassmen.
On Mondays, the runs will take place at 6:30 am at the Old Threshers Museum Theatre. Wednesdays will be high school speed day at 7 am at Mapleleaf and Tuesdays and Thursdays will take place at Saunders Park by the swimming pool at 7 pm.
The runs will continue through the middle of August until the Mt. Pleasant Cross County camp. If you have any questions, you can contact Coach Lyle Murray at 319-850-0867.
Local Summer Athletic Camps
Mt. Pleasant girls’ basketball is offering up a camp for any girls’ basketball players entering 3rd through 12th grades starting tomorrow, June 23rd, and going through the 25th located at the Mt. Pleasant High School Gym. The camp will focus on the fundamentals and introduce team concepts employed by the high school’s system.

Prospect League
The Burlington Bees only got to play one of their two games against the Clinton LumberKings this past weekend, losing 10-7 on Saturday as their Sunday contest was postponed due to rain. Kaden Frommelt swatted a home run and finished with two RBIs in the victory.
The Bees have a full week of home games starting tomorrow, June 23rd, with a doubleheader against the Quincy Doggy Paddlers with game one at noon.
The LumberKings will travel to the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp tomorrow at 6:35 pm.
