High School Baseball

Central Lee won on a dramatic walk-off last night 5-4 over Fairfield. Dain Bukhart led the Trojans with two RBIs in the loss. The Hawks will take on Mediapolis on Tuesday, June 11th, at 5:30 pm on the road. 

Fairfield will compete against Washington on Monday, June 10th, at 5:30 pm in a road doubleheader. 

Mt. Pleasant traveled north to Alburnett last night and the Panthers produced another dramatic win against the Pirates 12-6. The Panthers led 6 to 1 at one point in the game before the Pirates diligently tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Mt. Pleasant then batted around the order with multiple two RBI singles from Carson Andreasen and Payton Walker, who had one more RBI earlier in the game, helping push the game out of reach. The Panthers will host Burlington on Monday in a doubleheader with game one at 5:30 pm. 

New London handled Danville last night 12-4. Gavin Menke-Bailey swatted a home run and he and Michael Raines each notched three RBIs in the win. The Bears will travel to Highland on Monday at 5:30 pm. 

New London will square off against Burlington Notre Dame on Tuesday at 5:30 pm on the road. 

Burlington Notre Dame will compete in the Lancer Baseball Invitational today with their first game against North Scott. 

West Burlington was knocked around by Mediapolis last night 8-0. Brock Thuleen registered two hits in the loss. The Falcons will play Louisa-Muscatine on Wednesday, June 12th, on the road at 5:30 pm. 

Mediapolis will take on Hillcrest Academy on Monday at 5:30 pm at home. 

Winfield-Mt. Union will face off against Van Buren County on Monday at 5:30 pm on the road. 

High School Softball

Fairfield hosted the first round of their tournament yesterday and fell to Central Lee 10-5. Shanna Buford and Aubree Bunnell each clobbered a home run in the win as they combined for five RBIs. The Hawks will take on Chariton today at 1 pm. 

The Trojans will compete against Mt. Pleasant today. 

Mt. Pleasant competed against Chariton yesterday and lost 16-0. Abigail Shelangoski and Lila Cook each tabbed hits for the Panthers. 

Van Buren County was defeated by Grinnell yesterday 10-0. The Warriors will take on Cardinal today. 

West Burlington played twice yesterday, sneaking past Cardinal 4-2 and throttling Mediapolis 12-0. The Falcons will face off against Grinnell today at 1 pm at Fairfield. 

Winfield-Mt. Union defeated Columbus last night after a clutch four-run 7th inning gave the Wolves the 5-3 victory. Makiah Lower picked up the win with two strikeouts. The Wolves will compete at the BGM Triangular today with East Marshall being their first opponent. 

Holy Trinity Catholic will host Lone Tree on Monday, June 10th, at 5:30 pm. 

Danville will travel to Highland on Monday at 7 pm. 

WACO will take on Louisa-Muscatine on Tuesday, June 11th, at 5:30 pm at home. 

Prospect League

The woes for the Burlington Bees continued last night after losing to the Jackson Rockabillys 5-3. Cooper Donlin, Merrick Mathews, and Skyler Agnew each grabbed an RBI in the losing effort. The Bees will look to avenge their loss tonight at home at 6:30 pm. 

The Clinton LumberKings and the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp had their offenses rolling last night, but the Pistol Shrimp walked it off in the bottom of the 10th inning, winning 11-10. Bryan Belo led the team with two RBIs. The LumberKings will compete against the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes tonight at 6:30 pm.
