Boys’ Soccer: Mount Pleasant to Host Bloodhounds:

The Mount Pleasant boys’ soccer team will be back on their home pitch today when they hook up with Fort Madison (4-1) in a Southeast Conference fixture.

The Panthers (1-4) enter today’s tilt with a three-match losing skid, being outscored 20-0 in the process.

Meanwhile, Fort Madison has won four straight since falling in their opener to Notre Dame, 3-2.

The Bloodhounds have knocked off Washington, Mount Pleasant, Keokuk and Fairfield during their nice stretch of play.

Their victory over Mount Pleasant came on April 10th — a 10-nil decision.

Fort Madison is paced offensively by sophomore Xander Wellman, who leads the team with eight goals scored.

The Panthers are 7-2 in their last nine meetings with Fort Madison, however.

Tonight’s game will begin at East Lake Park at 4:30 p.m.

Girls’ Soccer: Panther Girls’ Look to Stay Perfect at Fort Madison:

The Mount Pleasant girls’ soccer team will aim to stay unblemished tonight when they travel to Fort Madison for a Southeast Conference match.

Mount Pleasant has started their season red hot, dispatching of Columbus, Fairfield and Burlington in succession.

The Panthers are led offensively by sophomore Andrea Lopreato, who has scored 10 goals in three games.

Elly Manning has scored six times, while Emma Pieper has ben rock solid in goal, with 15 saves.

Fort Madison, 1-2, is led by Brandy Walker — she’s scored four goals for the Hounds.

Tonight’s fixture will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Baxter Sports Complex in Fort Madison.

Prep Golf: Busy Night of Super Conference Golf:

Course conditions might be a bit brisk this evening, but nonetheless it will be a packed evening of golf in the Super Conference.

Let’s take a look first at the girls’ circuit:

College Softball: Wesleyan Wins Only Game Played:

The Iowa Wesleyan softball team played just one game this weekend due to Health and Safety Protocols, but earned a 3-1 win over Spalding in their only tilt on Friday.

Morgan Christner was the winning pitcher, throwing seven innings allowing seven hits and a walk while striking out eight hitters.

Kayla Ford had a hit and run batted in while Alex Eyman drove in one as well.

The win improved the Tigers to 2-6.

They’ll be back on their home diamond on Wednesday when they hook up with Simpson College for a nonconference doubleheader.

First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. for game one.

Game two will follow at 6:00 p.m.

Women’s College Basketball: Drake Names Pohlman New Coach:

Allison Pohlman, a longtime associate head coach has been named the new head women’s basketball coach at Drake University.

Drake director of athletics Brian Hardin announced Pohlman’s hiring.

A formal introduction of the seventh women’s basketball head coach in Drake history will follow on Monday, April 26 at a time and location to be announced.

Pohlman has been a member of the Drake staff since 2007 and elevated to associate head coach in 2014 by then-head coach Jennie Baranczyk.

Last week, Baranczyk accepted the head coaching position at Oklahoma after nine seasons at Drake.
