High School Basketball

Mt. Pleasant will take on Burlington on Friday, December 1st, with the girls’ playing at 6 pm. KILJ 105.5 FM, kilj.com, will have the call with the pregame show at 5:45 pm. 

The Holy Trinity Catholic boys’ and girls’ teams picked up their second victory of the season after taking down Danville last night. The Holy Trinity Catholic girls’ team won 48-42, while the boys defeated the Bears 50-43. Luke Hellige led the way with 20 points for the Crusaders. Holy Trinity Catholic will travel to take on West Burlington on Friday with girls’ scheduled to play at 6 pm followed by the boys game. 

The Danville girls’ will face off against Fort Madison on December 4th at 6 pm.

The Mediapolis boys’ team defeated Central Lee 50-45 last night to start their season. The Bulldogs will take on Danville on Friday at 7:30 pm in a road matchup.

The Mediapolis girls’ team has put up at least 80 points in the first two games of the season as the Bulldogs thundered past Central Lee 84-25 last night. All five starters finished with double-digit points with Grace Holsteen leading the way with 23 points and seven assists in the winning effort for the Bulldogs. Mediapolis will host Holy Trinity Catholic on December 5th at 6 pm. 

Central Lee squares off against New London on Friday in a home matchup with the girls’ game starting at 6 pm. 

The New London girls’ fell to Van Buren County last night 40-32 as the Warriors outscored the Tigers 14 to 5 in the fourth quarter. Mylee Miller scored 12 points for New London. 

Van Buren County will host Burlington Notre Dame on Friday with the girls’ playing at 6 pm. 

The Winfield-Mt. Union girls’ team will take on Pekin at home on Friday at 6 pm with the boys’ game scheduled to start at 7:30 pm. 

WACO will look to get back in the win column on Friday at home against Wapello with the girls’ playing at 6 pm. 

High School Wrestling

The Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union boys’ team outscored Mt. Pleasant last night 64-15. Winning by fall for the Wildcats were Ty Scorpil (132 pounds), Bowen Thompson (138 pounds), Kohlby Newsom (144 pounds), Trevor Phillips (157 pounds), Cole Storm (165 pounds), Kason Dopler (175 pounds), and Russel Coil (285 pounds). For Mt. Pleasant, Ramzy Davis picked up a win in the 150-pound weight class on a 10-7 decision. Payton Walker (190 pounds) and William Birdsell (215 pounds) rounded out the scoring for the Panthers with wins by fall. 

Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union will head to Williamsburg on Saturday, December 2nd, to compete in a tournament. 

The Mt. Pleasant girls’ and boys’ teams will travel on December 2nd to a tournament hosted by Wapello. 

The New London and WACO girls’ teams will compete in a scramble hosted by Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union tomorrow, November 30th. 

The New London boys’ team will host a tournament on December 2nd. 

High School Bowling

Mt. Pleasant will face off against Keokuk on December 7th.

College Football

Iowa State University will be assigned a bowl game on December 3rd. 

#18 Iowa will compete for the Big Ten Championship on December 2nd at 7:15 pm against Michigan. 

College Basketball

The Iowa State men’s team will travel to take on DePaul on Friday, December 1st, at 7:30 pm. 

The Iowa State women’s team will look to get back in the win column against St. Thomas tonight at 7 pm on the road. 

The #4 Iowa women’s team will take on Bowling Green on Saturday, December 2nd, at home at 12:30 pm. 

The Iowa men’s team will take on North Florida tonight at 8 pm.
