Week 6 Iowa High School Volleyball Rankings

The week 6 Iowa High School Volleyball Rankings compiled by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union was released yesterday and here are the big movements. Stating in Class 1A, Springville did not relinquish their number 1 spot, but Burlington Notre Dame moved up in the rankings from 5th to 3rd as they have tallied up a record of 26-9. Holy Trinity Catholic also moved up in the rankings, as they were ranked 12th last week the Crusaders now find themselves in 10th. New London slipped in the rankings moving from 11th to 15th. Stanton and Riverside dropped out of the Top 15, East Mills (14th) and North Cedar (11th) moved into the Top 15.

Class 2A didn’t see any movement in the top 2 as Dike-New Hartford and Western Christian stayed put. However, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Freemont fell from 3rd to 5th. West Burlington also experienced a move down the rankings as they are now 11th when they were 8th a week ago. South Hardin replaced Lake Mills in the 15th slot.

Class 3A was the most consistent as there was no movement in the first 7 slots, with Des Moines Christian keeping the top spot. The first movement was Osage leapfrogging Solon from 9th to 8th. Sheldon was ranked 11th last week, they are now out of the Top 15 and Vinton-Shellsburg entered the rankings at 15th.

Class 4A much of the same as the top 4 teams did not move with the order: Cedar Rapids Xavier, North Scott, Marion, and Western Dubuque. Lewis Central went from 5th last week to 13th and Clear Creek-Amana also fell to 12th from 6th a week ago. Knoxville (14th) is the new team in the rankings with Bishop Heelan dropping out of the Top 15.

Class 5A had the biggest shakeup at the top with Pleasant Valley (3rd) being dethroned by Iowa City Liberty as they were ranked 2nd last week. Waukee was the only team to drop out of the Top 15 with Sioux City East going from unranked to 13th for this week.
