Mount Pleasant — The Mount Pleasant boys’ track team received strong performances from Cooper Pullis and Bryce Wilson, finishing fifth on a chilly night at yesterday’s Denny White Relays at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex.

Pullis won the Class A shot put with a heave of 50 feet, 10 inches, while Bryce Wilson finished as a runner up in the 110 hurdles, running a personal best 15.67 seconds. Clear Creek-Amana’s Harrison Rosenberg won the event in an impressive 15.13 seconds.

Mount Pleasant’s Isaiah Albright finished third in the 400m dash.

Albright ran 55.11 to finish behind Washington’s Elijah Morris and Cash Jensen of Clear Creek-Amana.

In relays, the Panther 4x400m team ended their night in third, behind just Washington and Clear Creek-Amana — they ran a time of 3:41.50.

The shuttle hurdle team also was a third place finisher.

Iowa City Liberty won the event with a time 1:03.46, Mount Pleasant ran 1:09.10.

Clear Creek-Amana won the team race, while Liberty finished second.

In Class B, New London’s Carter Allen — a Drake Relays qualifier — continued his impressive stretch, winning with a toss of 49 feet, 3 inches.

Allen will head to Des Moines next week in both the discus and shot put.

Danville’s distance medley relay team of Oliver Sowell, Ty Carr, Mason Chipman and Gabriel Gourley should be heading to the Drake Relays. That same quartet broke the school record in the 4×400 last night as well, winning in a time of 3:30.22 beating Mediapolis by a second and a half.

Winfield-Mount Union’s Dane Sweezer was a runner-up in the 110 hurdles. Sweezer ran 17.13 to finish behind Van Buren County’s Lane Davis.

Wapello won the team race in Class B, followed up by Mediapolis and Pekin.

New London placed fourth, while Winfield-Mount Union ended seventh.
