Boys’ Golf: Panthers Roll in Home Triangular

Mount Pleasant — Brevin Wilson carded a two-over 38 to finish with medalist honors as Rob Zeglen’s Mount Pleasant Panther boys’ golf team earned another home win over Washington and Fort Madison in a Southeast Conference triangular.

Nick Matheney followed up Wilson’s low score with a 42, while Reece Kempker chipped in with a 43.

The Panthers won with 172 strokes, while Washington finished in second with 179.

Fort Madison ended with 218.

In other golf last night:

  • Winfield-Mount Union 183, Mediapolis 224
    • Brady Loyd finished with a 4-over 40 as Winfield-Mount Union picked up a Super Conference win over Mediapolis. Loyd was followed up by Jacob Kongable who finished tied for 2nd with Mediapolis’ top finisher Tyler Samuel. They both shot 43s.
  • New London 191, Central Lee 255
    • Clayton Phillips continued his hot start to the season with a one-over 37, earning medalist honors as the New London Tiger boys’ golf team took down Central Lee last night. Mason Shellady carded a 40 for New London. David Wright led Central Lee with a 57.
